One of his primary concerns is communicating authentic spiritual teachings and practices without exotic jargon and unnecessarily foreign Eastern cultural influences. His teaching is inclusive rather than exclusive—consistently focusing on basic practices for expanding awareness fundamental to all paths. James believes our ordinary, daily relationships provide some of the most direct means toward self-realization. In this context, he is currently completing, with co-author Heather Robbins, The Tao of Love: A Husband and Wife Dialog on Spiritual Relationships in a Chaotic World. In support of this work, James and Heather will be traveling nationwide, offering seminars and workshops for couples interested in utilizing their relationships for spiritual development.
View upcoming workshops on relationship psychology and rekindling passion. Whether offering traditional psychotherapy treatment or more holistic approaches, Heather integrates a variety of disciplines: psychodynamic psychology, cognitive-behavioral therapy techniques, meditation practices and Eastern spiritual beliefs. Her work explores the relationship between early family experiences and current life obstacles and struggles, illuminating subtle, repeating patterns of personality and behavior. To this end, she incorporates meditation practices and dreamwork to access aspects of the individual not readily available to habitual, everyday awareness. Emphasizing interpersonal relationships as a means to expanding self-awareness, Dr. Robbins is currently completing, with co-author James Robbins, a work titled, The Tao of Love: A Husband and Wife Dialog on Spiritual Relationships in a Chaotic World. Her writing and teaching emphasizes her experience as a clinical psychologist, drawing from real-world case examples to illustrate more abstract Taoist concepts. In support of this work, Heather and James will be traveling nationwide, offering seminars and workshops for couples interested in utilizing their relationships for spiritual development.
